Firstly, if you’re looking for a DeLorean with a food mixer on top you’re out of luck.
This is a story about a man and his Minis.
When I did the recent shoot with the Mk1 Mini Cooper S, the owner asked me if I’d help him with something he’d wanted to do for years. He explained that his first car was a Mini, way back when he was a mere slip of a lad, and he handed me a photo.
This is him with his beloved car, outside his parents’ house, in 1971.
He then went on to tell me how he really wanted to recreate the photo with his current Mini.
Piece of cake.
We whizzed the car round to the same spot that the original was taken and, with the old photo in one hand and my camera in the other, I lined up the shot as accurately as I could.
A bit of post-production jiggery pokery later, and the magic of time travel is complete.
One man, two cars, forty-six years apart.
